Wade.<\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3388505 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"3388505\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"e-c0e995e-86eedb6 e-paragraph-base\" data-interaction-id=\"c0e995e\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-id=\"c0e995e\">Esta restricci\u00f3n ya es suficientemente perjudicial. Pero, siendo adolescente menor de 18 a\u00f1os, yo, al igual que millones de mis compa\u00f1eros, ten\u00eda una barrera adicional para acceder a la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica reproductiva: las leyes de consentimiento paterno de Florida. <br><br>Incluso durante el plazo legal de seis semanas, una menor de edad solo puede obtener un aborto en Florida (as\u00ed como anticonceptivos con receta y tratamiento para infecciones de transmisi\u00f3n sexual, en muchos casos) si uno de sus padres da su permiso por escrito.<br><br>Aunque parezca inofensivo, este sistema es completamente err\u00f3neo.<br><br>Gran parte del razonamiento detr\u00e1s del requisito de consentimiento paterno en Florida es que, aparentemente, los menores no tienen la madurez suficiente para decidir si continuar o no con un embarazo. Incluso una menor de 17 a\u00f1os y 11 meses todav\u00eda no tiene la madurez suficiente para tomar esa decisi\u00f3n hasta dentro de un mes.<br><br>Sin embargo, se considera que un menor de edad tiene la madurez suficiente para ser padre o madre, para pasar por el trabajo de parto y el alumbramiento, y para cuidar econ\u00f3mica y emocionalmente de un ni\u00f1o y tomar decisiones diarias sobre \u00e9l.<br><br>De repente, desaparece la preocupaci\u00f3n sobre si un adolescente es lo suficientemente responsable.<br><br>Parece que el Estado solo conf\u00eda en las adolescentes para afrontar las consecuencias del embarazo, no la decisi\u00f3n de quedar embarazadas. En cambio, esa decisi\u00f3n trascendental queda en manos de los padres o tutores, quienes pueden o no estar dispuestos y capacitados para participar en esa conversaci\u00f3n.<br><br>Ya sea porque algunos adolescentes tienen una relaci\u00f3n tensa o inexistente con sus tutores, por miedo al abuso o la coacci\u00f3n, porque sus padres est\u00e1n de vacaciones o incluso por el deseo de normalidad en la din\u00e1mica familiar, algunos adolescentes simplemente no pueden o no se sienten c\u00f3modos involucrando a un tutor en la conversaci\u00f3n.<br><br>Cualquiera de estas barreras puede impedir que los adolescentes reciban la atenci\u00f3n adecuada y segura para su salud. En cambio, puede tener consecuencias peligrosas, incluso mortales.<br><br>Lo ideal ser\u00eda que todos los adolescentes pudieran hablar con sus padres sobre estas decisiones. Y si bien la mayor\u00eda de las personas de mi edad se sienten c\u00f3modas haci\u00e9ndolo, no todos los adolescentes tienen ese privilegio. En casos como estos, la seguridad del paciente deber\u00eda ser la prioridad n\u00famero uno. Pero las leyes de consentimiento parental ignoran esto, perjudicando sobre todo a quienes se encuentran en situaciones menos favorables.<br><br>La realidad es que las personas, incluidos los adolescentes, conocen mejor su situaci\u00f3n que los pol\u00edticos.
