Each April, we honor Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and these days, it’s nearly impossible to not face constant reminders of why this campaign is so important.
From the White House to Congress and heads of federal agencies, to college campuses, our communities, and sometimes within our closest relationships, sexual assault is pervasive and increasingly and harmfully excused in very public ways.
For those who have navigated violence or any type of harassment from another person, the consequences are often long-lasting, nuanced, and many go unseen. This has a direct impact on the health, relationships, and futures of who was impacted and those around them.
Everyone deserves to feel safe and supported in their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities. - To access the National Sexual Assault Hotline, available over call, text, and online chat, انقر هنا.
- To learn more about how to support loved ones following an assault, access this resource from RAINN.
- For additional resources for recovery, no matter how long it has been since an assault occurred, click here for a library of materials, specific to a variety of cultures, experiences, ages, and approaches for support.
May we recommit to cultivating a world that empowers survivors, not abusers, that funds services that are trauma-informed, not harmful, and rejects shame and stigma, prioritizing instead a culture of respect, love, consent, and dignity.

We want to send a special message of gratitude and solidarity to three outgoing FRF Coalition Steering Committee members: Od’Juan Whitfield, Liliana Cruz, and Ciné Julien. Each of them have contributed time, energy, strategy, and love to the FRF Coalition, the reproductive freedom movement, and our collective work in Florida. - Od’Juan has brought us collaboration, deep perspectives on our interconnectedness, and a fierce fight for a more just world, with respect for those who came long before us.
- Lili has brought us grace, a consistent centering that the political is personal, and that each of us deserve the love and care we want to see in the world.
- Ciné has brought us multifaceted leadership, joy in unexpected and creative spaces, and paved the way for others to grow in their power too.
We’re lucky that each of them will still be critical parts of this Coalition and that our work is stronger, kinder, and more inspired because of them.
