During this season in 2024, Floridians and beyond were learning about individuals and families harmed by abortion bans, as their lived experiences were shared along with desperate pleas to support Amendment 4 and end the near-total abortion ban. Stories from Anya and Derick Cook, Deborah Dorbert, and Caroline Williams, all detailing the dangers of politicians interfering with something as complex and personal as pregnancy.

Their stories and others moved people to a place of more compassion and understanding for the nuanced and valid reasons people access abortion care. Now, they’re all part of a growing cohort with El aborto en Estados Unidos, a partner organization of the Floridians for Reproductive Freedom Coalition.
Abortion in America is building a community rooted in joy, truth, and liberation—because our stories have the power to break stigma, challenge shame, and fight back against abortion bans.
AIA’s community goes far beyond election cycles; they offer resources, legal representation, trainings, and solidarity between fellow storytellers, people with far more than just one story.
