New poll indicates abortion policy could affect employment decisions

A survey conducted by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research has found that those in states with restrictive abortion laws were worried about reproductive healthcare issues such as abortion, access OB-GYNs, and fertility treatments. The survey also saw support for states with abortion access, and individuals often disagree with restrictive policies.  

  • 19% of respondents said they relocated to different states because of abortion bans, half of respondents also thought that companies should speak out on reproductive healthcare issues.  
  • One of the biggest issues that was highlighted through the survey was the need for access to OB-GYNs, with worries being highest in Arizona, Florida, and Texas. 46% of Texas’ counties have maternity care desserts. 40% of respondents said that lack of OB-GYNs and limited access to prenatal care and contraception in a state would make them less likely to live there.
