We know this moment in our movement and in our country is painful for all the freedoms, communities, and visions for America that we hold dear. Amidst the inhumane treatment of immigrants, of people seeking, providing, and supporting health care, of transgender folks just trying to live, we still have opportunities, and a responsibility, to embody the best humanity has to offer.
Next week will mark 3 years since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, when our struggle towards abortion access for all and reproductive freedom faced a devastating setback. And yet, this Coalition is bigger than it’s ever been.
With our collective power, we have an urgent duty to fight for a more just country by opposing the massive proposed cuts to the federal budget. The Reconciliation Bill that Congress is soon to vote on could lead to the closing of 200 Planned Parenthood health centers, the defunding of rural hospitals and nursing homes, and cuts to services we pay into and rely on like food stamps, mental health resources, Medicaid, and Medicare.
We are narrowly focused on ensuring our Senators hear from us to oppose these cuts. The current budget will only benefit the ultrawealthy at the expense of hardworking people who are already struggling to get by. Take action to save Medicaid and the other services we rely on, then, share with everyone you know how consequential these cuts will be if we don’t stop them.
Programming note: This newsletter will take a short break and be back in your inboxes on July 11th. In the interim, if you need to send a message to the full Coalition of organizations, you can do so by utilizing the Slack or by emailing the Google group at frfcoalition@googlegroups.
