Reproductive Rights News Roundup – July 14th 2025

Across the nation, communities are already feeling the harmful fallout from the Trump Administration’s multi-pronged approach to making our lives less safe, less affordable, and less free. Last week, the Trump administration and their backers in Congress “defunded” Planned Parenthood in an attempt to stop people who use Medicaid insurance from getting care at Planned Parenthood health centers. In response, Planned Parenthood said, “We’ll see you in court.”

This will be a challenging but worthy fight; everyone should have the freedom to decide who their health care provider is and to get quality, affordable care. In Florida, Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida (PPSWCF) and Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida (PPSENFL) have officially merged to form Planned Parenthood of Florida, further evidence that health centers will continue to provide care, no matter what.

Federal policies like the Reconciliation Bill are a grave disservice to everyone besides the ultrawealthy. On average, families are expected to lose $146 per month in cuts to food stamps, 1 in 10 people currently enrolled in Medicaid will lose their coverage, and here at home, 10 of Florida’s 22 rural hospitals are at risk of closing in the next 6 years, 2 being in immediate risk of having to close their doors by 2027.

Where there is harm and injustice, there will always be communities of care fighting for what’s right – thank you for being part of this one.

Oppose Trump’s Slate of Anti-Abortion Judges for Lifetime Appointments

Trump’s recently nominated judicial nominees will work to dismantle reproductive freedoms, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental protections, workplace safety, and more and we need your help to stop it.

Oppose Trump's Slate of Anti-Abortion Judges for Lifetime Appointments

One of the most dangerous nominees is Judge Jordan Pratt, who most recently authored the opinion that invalidated judicial bypass in Florida, a process that allowed minors in unsafe and unsupportive homes to access an abortion when a parent couldn’t get involved or it wasn’t safe to involve them. Judge Pratt sided with keeping minors pregnant against their will.

Call to Action: Restore Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to Palm Beach County Schools

In April, the Palm Beach County School Board voted to suspend critical Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies. This decision rolled back equitable hiring practices, staff transfer guidelines, and support for women- and minority-owned businesses—all in response to state and federal pressures.

These changes are not yet final. The board is expected to revisit this decision in the coming months, and public input will shape what happens next.
