Reproductive Rights News Roundup – August 24th 2025

Amidst the tough headlines this week, Floridians proved once again the power of working together: whether it’s for the freedom to be our authentic selves, feel safe in our communities, or control our own bodies.

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians, Friends of the Everglades, Center for Biological Diversity, Earthjustice, and countless other stakeholders achieved a legal victory: The cruel Everglades Detention Center must be shut down within 60 days. Now, the fight for fair treatment of immigrant families must continue.

In Central Florida, Equality Florida and others led a rapid response mobilization following the Florida Department of Transportation’s middle-of-the-night removal of a rainbow crosswalk in front of Pulse Nightclub. Across Florida, people are painting their driveways and windows with rainbows, hanging their Pride flags, and unifying to declare that LGBTQ+ Floridians’ rights, lives, and futures matter.
