We’re voting no on Amendment 3; let’s get into it.
In just one month, Floridians will vote for their next state lawmakers, U.S. Senator, Attorney General, and Governor, all positions that have the power to impact our lives for the better.
One of the final items we’ll review on our ballots is Amendment 3, an amendment that if passed, has the potential to catastrophically change the state of Florida, and one we have a responsibility to stop.
|
If passed, Amendment 3 would cause massive cuts to essential services our communities and families depend on, new and higher fees, and a tax shift for millions of Floridians.
What do we stand to lose?
Critical local services that would face funding cuts from Amendment 3 include first responders, public hospitals, health and wellness programs, children’s and family services, disaster preparedness and response, libraries, playgrounds, and more.
|
- Florida’s public hospital districts and health systems would lose an estimated $323 million over the next three years.
- Child care, out-of-school programs, early learning, neighborhood resource centers, nutrition assistance, and wellness screenings will lose at least 15% of their funding, leaving them at risk of elimination.
- The number of Florida households without flood insurance could rise, less aid will be available through FEMA, and our communities will have fewer resources to respond with when natural disasters hit.
We know what we have to do: let’s get the word out to our networks that we’re voting no on 3 to save our services, hospitals, child care, libraries, and local community resources.
