This Legislative Session, we sent a clear message: politicians are never more qualified to make health care decisions for us than we are. For the first time in recent history, we successfully stopped every bill that sought to further restrict reproductive freedoms and LGBTQ+ equality.

Here’s where some of the major bills ended up:
SB 1288/ HB 1505: Birth Control Ban for Young People
This legislation attempted to restrict minors from accessing birth control, STI testing, mental health services and other health care services if they couldn’t involve a parent.
Good News: This bill did NOT pass meaning minors in Florida CAN still access these services without parental consent.
HB 1255: Propaganda in Public Schools
An education bill that required students to view a medically inaccurate video on fetal development made by an anti-abortion extremist group.
Good News: This language was NOT included in the bill so students will not be shown this anti-abortion propaganda in our public schools.
SB 1284/HB 1517: An Expansion on Florida’s Abortion Ban
This deceptive bill would have granted an embryo the same rights as a living child. This could have jeopardized IVF, chemotherapy, and abortion access.
Good News: There are already laws in place for someone to sue if they experience the loss of a pregnancy due to the negligence of someone else. This misleading bill did NOT pass, which means we prevented countless devastating consequences.
